An Alternative Guide to Surfing 

Californian style of surfing has been dominating surf rhetoric for decades, promoting not only catching waves but also aggression and showing sexual prowess; however a small region at the end or the Trans-Canadian highway is redefining surfing by holding space for equity and accessibility.

In this photo series, I am utilizing Instagram to accelerate the change in surfing by encouraging conversation that challenges the current hypermasculine surf culture. I am giving another paddle into the shift of etiquettes of the Pacific Rim’s increasingly heterogeneous surfing community.
